Contract for the general planning services for the construction of a new anaerobic digestion plant and the conversion of a decommissioned MBT plant into a digestate post-composting plant in Osterholz-Scharmbeck, Germany is awarded to Waste Tec GmbH.
KENN gkAöR (Kommunale Entsorgungsanstalt Nord-Niedersachsen) has issued a tender for the general planning services for the construction of a new anaerobic digestion plant and the conversion of an existing mechanical-biological waste treatment plant (MBT) into a composting plant.
In addition to the anaerobic digestion plant itself, the new construction also includes a hall for material delivery and buffering, as well as biogas processing for the supply of biomethane to the natural gas grid operator. This part of the plant represents the first treatment stage of the “cascaded utilization” of biowaste prioritized in accordance with the “KrWG.
The digestate produced in the first treatment stage is fed to the converted and upgraded MBT plant for further aerobic post-treatment, with the aim of producing high-quality compost.
In the future, the rebuilt plant shall process approx. 50,000t/a of biowaste and up to 10,000t/a of green waste.
Ultimately, Waste Tec GmbH was able to prevail in the tendering procedure with a technically balanced and also economically reasonable planning concept and was therefore commissioned with the overall planning service starting from the approval planning (service phases 4-8 according to HOAI).
